What can I order from Vertoro online?
Vertoro sells digital currencies and gold and silver coins. Digital gold currencies, or DGCs, can be purchased here. Coins can be purchased here.

What is a DGC?
DGC stands for Digital Gold Currency. A DGC is a way for individuals to buy and sell gold online or use it as money. A digital gold currency such as e-gold holds many bars of gold in secure vaults. The e-gold in your account is a claim against some of that gold. For example, if there is one ounce of gold in your e-gold account, you have a claim for one ounce of the gold that e-gold is holding in storage.

For more information on the different currencies, you can find links to their web sites from our page here.

For help on how to open an account, you can visit our tutorials.

What kinds of digital currencies can I buy from Vertoro?
Vertoro sells e-gold, 1mdc, Pecunix, GoldMoney, e-bullion, eLiberty Dollars, and e-silver via our automated online order system. For more information about these types of digital currency, click here or here.

We are also able to sell you Loom Gold, Phoenix silver, e-platinum, e-palladium, Liberty Reserve, and WebMoney. Please send an email to catalog@vertoro.com if you would like to purchase any of these.

What kinds of coins can I buy from Vertoro?
Vertoro sells US and foreign gold and silver bullion coins. We do not sell rare collectible or numismatic coins. You can find our coin catalog here.

What currencies can I use to pay for an order? At present Vertoro only accepts United States Dollars (USD). If you wish to place an order in another fiat currency, we suggest that you contact us by email to make special arrangements.

How can I send payment to Vertoro?
Vertoro accepts money orders in USD and cashier's checks from US banks for any size order, and USD wire transfers via ABA or SWIFT for orders over $1000. Please note that USA postal money orders are not accepted. Western Union, Travelers Express, Canada Post money orders for more than $100, and bank-issued money orders are okay.
We do not accept credit cards, ACH transfers, or PayPal payments because these are reversible while DGC spends are not. Sending cash by mail or courier is not advised, and we do not accept cash payments.

What types of money orders can I use?
Vertoro only accepts money orders from Western Union, Travelers Express, other outlets for Integrated Payments, and bank-issued money orders. We do not accept US Postal money orders for any amount, ever. We do not accept Canada Post money orders for less than $100 face value. If you attempt to send postal money orders not meeting our criteria, your payment will be returned to you.

What are the best and fastest methods of payment?
Bank wires, bank cashier's checks, and money orders get funds to us the fastest. If timing is a big concern, use an overnight courier to send us a bank check or money order. Or send a bank wire. Since we cannot buy gold with funds we don't have in hand, the faster your funds become available to us, the sooner we can help you go from green to gold.

Can I send you a business or personal check?
Vertoro will accept business or personal checks only if the business or person is personally known to us and approved in advance by our management. We do not recommend you send a business or personal check if you want us to have rapid availability of your funds. If timing is a concern, such as periods when the price of gold is rising rapidly, please use a bank wire, bank check, or money order for best results.

What are your wire coordinates?
We do not publish bank wire coordinates for account security reasons. Our policy is to send you our wire coordinates only via encrypted email once your order has been approved. Please note that we reserve the right to decline to disclose our wire coordinates regardless of order size, especially for first-time customers. In such cases you will need to purchase a bank cashier's check, bank-issued money order, or multiple money orders.

How do I know what prices you will charge me?
Vertoro endeavors to maintain the very lowest possible prices. For DGC orders, our prices are based on the current spot price of gold or silver on world markets. You can check current precious metals spot prices here. Depending on the weight of gold being ordered and the type of DGC, we add a fee. These fee rates are listed here. Additional charges will be imposed for wire receipt fees on wire orders.

For coin orders, our prices are calculated based on the spot price of the metal plus a premium which is specific to each type of coin, plus shipping and handling charges based on the weight of the order. Silver rounds and bulk silver coins are sold at the closest to silver spot. Other coins such as Canadian Maples, Krugerrands, and US Eagles are sold at a slightly higher premium above the metal spot, reflecting the coin fabrication costs.

All charges will be clearly disclosed on the order form before you are asked to accept it.

Can you guarantee that I will receive a particular weight of DGC?
No. This is because the price of gold fluctuates with the market. We cannot credit your DGC account until we have received and cleared your funds. You will always receive the stipulated dollar value which you have paid for, but we cannot guarantee a particular weight in grams or ounces because the gold price will likely have changed between the time you place your order and the time that your funds arrive.

I have digital gold or coins that I wish to sell. Will you buy it from me?
No. Vertoro is a gold retailer; we do not buy gold or silver from the public. We suggest that you utilize the services of one of the businesses listed here.

What will I need in order to complete a Vertoro DGC order form?
You will need to have access to a DGC account which you want funded, and know its account number. If you do not have one, or do not know which kind you want, we provide account opening tutorials for a number of DGCs here. There is also some general information about some of the various DGC companies supplied in our catalog.

You will also need a working email address. If you do not have one, or wish to set up a new one specifically to communicate with Vertoro, we recommend secure web-based email accounts from Real-Email.com, with whom Vertoro has an arrangement. These email accounts are available as a free trial subscription here. And of course, you will need to decide how much digital gold you wish to purchase, and how you intend to send us your payment.

What will I need in order to complete a Vertoro coin order form?
First, you will need to decide upon the type and quantity of each coin that you wish to buy. These are described in our catalog here. You will also need a working email address. If you do not have one, or wish to set up a new one specifically to communicate with Vertoro, we recommend secure web-based email accounts from Real-Email.com, with whom Vertoro has an arrangement. These email accounts are available as a free trial subscription here. You will also need a valid courier shipping street address (no P.O. boxes), and will need to decide on how you intend to send us your payment.

Why am I being asked to login to place an order?
This serves the function of creating an unique session with our web server, and lets us avoid the distasteful practice of setting cookies in your browser. It also obtains one of two things from you: your Vertoro customer Id number if you have one, or your email address. We need one or the other in order to identify you and communicate with you. Please note that you are not required to register with us in any way. You always have the option of logging in using only your email address.

What then are the advantages of my becoming a registered Vertoro user?
First, if you supply additional contact information such as a street address, phone number, AIM or ICQ, it can improve our ability to communicate with you about your orders. Second, registered users can upload their PGP public key onto our server. This allows our site and our personnel to encrypt all email communications with you using that key. Third, it makes us feel better about you as a customer. We absolutely understand about the need for privacy in today's world. That's why we allow you to do business with us while providing only an email address. But on the flip side, with all the fraud prevalent on the internet, we find it reassuring when customers are willing to tell us who they are. We also find it reassuring when customers upload a PGP key and we discover it is signed by another trusted customer. Rings of trust are very powerful.

Will you disclose any information I give you to third parties?
We take customer privacy extremely seriously, within the limits prescribed by law. Please review our privacy policy.

What are the terms and conditions of Vertoro's service?
Please review our terms and conditions and legal disclosures.

Why am I getting a warning from my browser about your site's certificate?
Vertoro uses a site certificate signed by a free "Certificate Authority" (CA) called CAcert. This works identically with certificates signed by a commercial CA to encrypt the traffic between your browser and our web server. The only difference is that we paid no exorbitant fee for our certificate. The idea behind CAs is that they are supposed to conduct "due diligence" on a web business and its principals before signing their site certificate. In reality, most CAs limit their procedures to verifying a contact phone number, possibly seeing a copy of an incorporation certificate, and of course collecting a significant fee. Some merely collect the fee. The result is that Internet users are lulled into a false sense of security about web businesses, simply because their operators paid a fee to a "CA" whose key is included in the set of CA keys installed by default into most popular browsers. By itself this doesn't tell you anything about whether the business is reputable or not. For website operators, this system amounts to an annual extortion payment for no real services rendered.

Vertoro is opposed to these practices. We believe that trust has to be earned, and that there is no substitute for examining online businesses carefully and using good judgement about which ones to do business with. For example, we welcome new customers "trying us out" with small orders to test our service and reliability before placing larger ones. We are willing to earn your trust and your business without the benefit of a sham label which we purchased from somebody that you may never even have heard of.

If you wish to eliminate the warning messages about our site certificate, we suggest that you install the CAcert root authority, which you can do by clicking here and checking the trust boxes when your browser prompts you.
